Warhol inc.

Just finished reading an article on Andy Warhol over on the ArtNews website.
It is amazing how one person can change so many things and generate so much buzz. It is an interesting article that include how much his pieces were being sold for if your interested in ever buying a piece.

Project 1

I had a real tuff time deciding what to do for this first project. I believe many of us did. Well for this project i decided to do a composite of buildings inspired by two artist Ed Ruscha and Jon Measures who teaches computer art 149. It has been a pain trying to figure all the little thing out but i am almost close to completing the project. Im not completely sure if i am satisfied with it because I came up with new ideas regarding it but might be to late to change. Considering how much free time i have left to work on it I am gonna try my hardest to see if can do these new changes. These two images are work that inspired my project.

Cube's

Well for experimental i had to do a presentation on Sol Lewitt who is known for his wall paintings and cube shaped structures. One thing that really caught my attention while reading through several of his books was that he stressed the idea of understanding an idea to its fullest before actually starting to do any work on it. This is something that many of us dont do. I know I am someone who starts with a rough idea and lets it form while I am working rather than having it planned out.

America's Pass Time

I recently received a book i purchased from Amazon sometime ago. It was a book by David Levinthal titled David Levinthal: Baseball. I found it pleasing how you can do so much in photography using so little. He photographed small baseball figurines in what seemed to be iconic moments in baseball history.

Dinh Q le

This week in seminar one artist that we talked about was Dinh Q le. His method of printing and manipulation of the images he uses is what caught my attention the most. Dont get me wrong his subject matter is filled with a lot of content that people can talk for hours about but found his final presentation amazing. He used the technique of weaving to physical combine his images. Even though the weaving process is a very old technique it gave a sense of pixelation which is very current with digital images.

Lighting experience

So the other day Manny asked me to help him out with some studio work. Seeing that i have not had studio yet i jumped on the opportunity after he offered to buy me lunch. He pretty much gave me a crash course within an hour then one thing we did not go over was the boom. One thing i gained from it was a new understanding of what light can do. It is somewhat intimidating at first but you get comfortable with it pretty quick just like everything else. Just like in the darkroom you can really lose track of time and get lost in your work.

Upperplayground

So i stumbled across another video where an artist is doing something to try and help out a drifter. I am guessing it is a series of videos this gallery that is associated with Upperplayground is doing. it is interesting on how the drifter opens up and tell his life story with being hesitant about it.

USUGROW

For year i have been attracted to Usugrow's work but never could see myself doing something with such high contrast till our first project. He is a Japanese painter with a style streets style or at least thats how others describe it as. He has been involved in many projects along with designing shoes for vans, skateboards for several companies, along with making album and lp covers but his primary work revolves around paintings and prints.
